Background – What is Sportivate?
Sportivate is an initiative which aims to capture the excitement of sport following the success of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by providing innovative opportunities for young people, aged 11-25, in a sport of their choice.

The programme funds 6 – 8 weeks of coached sessions, with clearly defined ‘exit routes’ for participants to move into after the project has finished.

The funding can cover costs of coaching fees, new equipment, facility hire and coaching qualifications amongst others as well as being used to drive up your club membership.

A Sportivate project should:

  • Target participants aged 11 – 25 years old.
  • Target participants who are ‘semi-sporty’, defined as those not who are not participating regularly in sport in their own time.
  • Provide sessions or activity that are affordable, accessible, appropriate and reflect the local demography.
  • Provide a sustainable exit route for continued participation in physical activity.
