Grants of between £40,000 and £75,000 are available for up to two years of activity. Comic Relief expects to make between 15 and 30 grants across the UK. Comic Relief was set up in 1985 to tackle poverty and promote social justice. This is achieved by raising funds and awareness, and allocating money donated by the public to charitable projects across the UK and in some of the poorest countries in the world, especially in Africa. Comic Relief’s vision is ‘A Just World Free From Poverty’, where everyone is safe, healthy, educated and empowered. Comic Relief recognises that sport continues to play an important role in improving the lives of millions of people in the UK and across the world, by bringing people together to play, learn, improve health and benefit from shared experiences.
The Communities and Sport for Change initiative will support proposals that are using sport as a catalyst for positive social change in some of the most deprived areas of the UK.

Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available. The Awards for All programme will not give more than £10,000 (in one or more grants) to an organisation in any one year period. Awards for All is a small grants programme provided by the Big Lottery Fund with the aim of funding projects that will improve the quality of life for local communities. Grants are available for voluntary and community groups, charities, not-for-profit organisations, and statutory bodies, including schools and town councils, to carry out projects. Grants of £500 are available. Larger grants may be available to projects that are of particular interest to the Trust. Building On Overlooked Sporting Talent (BOOST) provide and administer grants to organisations which support disabled or disadvantaged people to overcome obstacles and take part in sporting activities. Grants will generally be no more than £1,000 although the Trustees will consider applications above this figure in exceptional circumstances. The Central Social and Recreational Trust aims to improve the conditions of children and young people under the age of 21 and of all other persons by reason of their poverty who would otherwise be unable to obtain facilities for recreational or other leisure time occupations. There is no minimum or maximum level of grant available. Each grant request will be reviewed on its own merits. Applicants may only apply to one of the Foundation’s programmes at any time. The Peter Harrison Foundation has been set up to give grants to people with disabilities and those that are disadvantaged. Under the Opportunities through Sport Programme the Foundation wishes to support sporting activity or projects which provide opportunities for people who are disabled or otherwise disadvantaged to fulfil their potential and to develop other personal and life skills. No minimum or maximum level of grant is specified. Funding is provided by the RYA Foundation to promote participation in boating for those who may otherwise find it difficult to partake in the sport due to age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances. The Foundation offers the following levels of support:
Capital grants of between £10,000 and £40,000 for purchase, alteration and improvement of buildings, including village halls and community centres, and for large items of capital equipment such as vehicles. The Foundation’s grants programme targets small, local projects working to address community issues in areas of extreme Urban Deprivation or remote, socio-economically deprived Rural Areas. Funding is at the discretion of the Trustees. The Connie and Albert Taylor Charitable Trust offers grants to charities that are active in the West Midlands. The Trust decided in January 2014 that it would work to bring the Trust to an end within five years. To this end, it is working mainly with charities that it has been supporting over the last 15 years. To this end the Trustees wrote in January 2014 to these charities and invited them to think about particular projects or needs that they might have and that they feel we would like to support. There is no particular time frame in which applications may be made and the Trust shall continue to receive them until its funds are exhausted. The funding is intended to support a variety of charitable causes. Applications may be submitted at any time and will be reviewed quarterly by the Trustees. Grants up to £300 for individuals. Grants up to £500 for organisations. The Sport Worcester Grant scheme is provided by Worcester City Council and administered by Sport Worcester. Funding is intended to assist sports clubs and talented sports people in Worcester. Grant aid is offered to sports clubs which are members of Sport Worcester and individual participants in sporting activities which are not for profit. Applications may be submitted at any time. Grants of between £100 and £1,000 are available. The maximum grant for newly formed groups is £500. The Stoke City Football Club provides the Stoke City Community Fund for small, local community-based projects in Staffordshire and South Cheshire. Funding is intended to assist local voluntary and community groups provide projects that benefit their local community. Projects should be original and innovative and provide long-term benefit. Grants of up to £25,000 are available for a project period of nine months. Every funded project will be assigned a Coach from The Foyer Federation who will provide support and guidance throughout the project. SITA Trust will therefore fund the involvement of The Foyer Federation and groups will need to reflect this cost as a ‘Foyer Federation Management Fee’ in their application. The SITA Trust budget will automatically calculate the management fee and this should be included in the total amount of funding being requested from SITA Trust. Funded by SITA Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund, the Foyer Federation will be coaching teams of young people to create and deliver real transformation in their area. The Community Upgrade Challenge aims to foster community and environmental improvement projects led by young people across the West Midlands and the North East of England.
