Coventry Pool update 13/02

Thank you for your concern regarding the 50m pool at Coventry and the Beacon programme, clearly this is far too early to speculate about the Beacon and City of Coventry were awarded funding on a 3.5 year agreement and we will continue to support them with this programme.

Our objective is to maintain an 8 lane 50m Competition pool but we have said it has to be right for the Local Community hence the need for all to respond to the public consultation, ASA media department will be working on a briefing document to inform those individuals who may be contacted by the media.

We have 6 weeks to ensure that as many people respond to the public consultation and it is our role that we help people to respond and provide key messages that can be added to. Our role will be to galvanise local opinion and support, ensure we are strong on message. It is vitally important that we, swimming really use the 6 week consultation period to maximum effect

We also have to maintain a positive working relationship with the City Council as whatever decision they make, we  would want and need to work with them. We will of course keep all parties updated as and when we have more information

Best wishes

Rob
